Client Relations

The VanderMay Law Firm takes its commitment to clients very seriously. We pride ourselves in placing a client's needs before our own. In fulfilling this obligation, we like to place the communication decision in the client's hands. Due to our heavy litigation schedule, we encourage clients to call when it is convenient and if your attorney is not available, leave a detailed message with staff. Unlike some law firms, we do not charge a client for the time they spend on the telephone with our support staff to effectively communicate. A client's concerns will be forwarded to the appropriate attorney who will get back to you personally if possible or will relay information through our support staff. A client is only charged for the time spent by the attorney addressing the issue.

In an appropriate case, where the client understands the costs involved, we will provide personal email and telephone contact information.

Use your discretion when using email. Email is not secure and can be altered by an unethical person who intercepts it. If you use common sense and email about general matters, it can be a convenient and quick form of communication. The rule of thumb we suggest is: If you would not want to see it published in the newspaper tomorrow morning, do not email it.

If you feel that your question is an emergency, tell our staff how early and late an attorney can call you back. If at all possible you will get a call back when your attorney has finished the commitment that took him or her out of the office, but that can be quite late at times.
