Mr. VanderMay is a founding member of The VanderMay Law Firm and has over eighteen years' experience practicing general civil litigation law. He is the primary litigation attorney for the firm. In this capacity, Mr. VanderMay handles or supervises all litigation preparation from initiation of a case through and including discovery, case development, motion practice, trial preparation, trial strategy and tactics and conduct of the trial itself. He also practices in the areas of business law, domestic relations and criminal defense, and has tried many cases in several states covering all listed fields of law.

Mr. VanderMay is an active member of the American Bar Association and its tort and insurance law, family law and litigation sections. He is also a member of the Oregon State Bar Association, the Marion County Bar Association, the State of Hawai'i Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association and a life member of the Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

Mr. VanderMay was first admitted to the Oregon State Bar on April 23, 1992. He was admitted before the United States District Court for the District of Oregon on December 10, 1993; admitted before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on December 14, 1993; admitted to the Hawai'i State Bar on June 13, 1997; admitted before the United States District Court for the District of Hawai'i on October 14, 2003; admitted to the Nevada State Bar on November 5, 2004; and admitted before the United States District Court for the District of Nevada on December 7, 2004.

When not practicing law, Mr. VanderMay enjoys flying, sailing, and downhill skiing.

Monty K. VanderMay is one of The VanderMay Law Firm's principals. He is a 1991 graduate of Willamette University School of Law. Mr. VanderMay's undergraduate work was completed at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. He graduated in 1989 from Evergreen with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He pursued a double major at Evergreen in the areas of business and computer science. In 1987, Mr. VanderMay was awarded The Evergreen State College's Student Humanitarian Service Award for outstanding contribution to the development and betterment of the human condition by President Joseph P. Olander.

While in law school, he clerked for a small criminal defense firm where he had the opportunity to prepare several matters for court, participate in trial and post-conviction litigation and preparation of appellate advocacy. Mr. VanderMay participated in many trial advocacy competitions. While in the first term of his first year of law school, he sought and received special permission to participate in the Fredrick Douglas National Moot Court Competition. Mr. VanderMay's team not only won the competition but received high brief awards. Mr. VanderMay went on to win the Oregon Trial Lawyers' Association's Trial Competition and the American Bar Association's Trial Lawyers' Competition.

Mr. VanderMay graduated with honors from Willamette University School of Law in Civil Practice, Trial Practice and Negotiation. He has his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree and his Certificate in Dispute Resolution from Willamette University School of Law.

Mr VanderMay was a law clerk for attorney Charles H. Williams III and, through his office, an intern lobbyist for the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
